Get ready to explore nature, learn new skills, and have a lot of fun in Play Pensacola Parks and Recreation's Outdoor Pursuits Adventure Programs. We offer a wide variety of outdoor adventures ranging from summer camps and one day skills clinics in archery, camping, fishing, and paddle sports to wilderness survival training and everything in between.

ARCHERY & FISHING DAYS AT MARITIME PARK

Come join us for a day of fishing and archery at the Community Maritime Park with games and prizes. Ages 7-16 $35 for city residents, $40 for non-residents (limit 20) includes lunch and snacks. 8:00am -4:30pm

Introduction to Camping/Outdoor Skills with Overnight at Camp Paquette

Introduction to Camping Class where participants pitch tents and/or hammocks, learn dutch oven recipes, fire building, fishing, orienteering/hiking, and Leave No Trace practices.

1/03 Day 1- (8-12) Classroom setting at Sanders Beach; orientation, review packing lists, build menus, rig fishing gear, and learn map and compass

1/04 Day 2- Meet at Sanders Beach at 8:00am head to Camp Paquette overnight

1/05 Day 3- Return to Sanders Beach for 11:00pm pick up

Wilderness Survival Trip to Blackwater State Forest

This adventure includes an overnight trip on Wednesday and Thursday night, Bear Grylls style, where participants backpack into a location where they have to build their own shelters, start their own fires, supplement their meals, and navigate their way through the Blackwater River State Forest from Bear Lake down to Blackwater River State Park (approx. 18 miles)  

March 19-22 Ages 12 -17 ($100 res.-$110 non-res.) includes Wednesday lunch and dinner, Thursday breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Friday breakfast) 

 3/19 Day 1- Classroom setting at Sanders Beach from (8-12) that includes trail and map orientation, packing list overview, building menu, shelter building, fire starting, and water purification

3/20 Day 2- 8am drop off at Sanders Beach then drive to Bear Lake to start hike to Juniper Creek Shelter for first night’s campsite

3/21 Day 3- Hike from Juniper Creek Shelter area near Blackwater State Park for second night’s camp

3/22 Day 4- Return to Sanders Beach for 11:00 pm pick up

Summer Outdoor Camps


Beginner Fishing Camp- Your child will have fun learning to fish, species identification, ethical angling, and enjoying the outdoors. Each child will receive a tackle box and fishing pole at the end of camp. Ages 8-14

Advanced Fishing Camp - If your child already knows how to fish and wants to learn places around town to fish, this is the camp for them! Each child will receive a tackle box and fishing pole at the end of camp. Ages 9-16

SUP/Kayak Camp - Your child will learn the fundamentals of stand up paddle board and kayaking, first in a pool then out on the open water. River trip on Thursday. Ages 9-16
