ADA Accessibility Policy


In accordance with the requirements of title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 ("ADA"), the City of Pensacola will not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities on the basis of disability in its services, programs, or activities.  As contributors to the City's livelihood, people with disabilities are entitled to fair and equal access to services.  

Employment

The City of Pensacola does not discriminate on the basis of disability in its hiring or employment practices and complies with all regulations promulgated by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission under Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Request for accommodation or modification

The City of Pensacola will generally, upon request, provide appropriate aids and services leading to effective communication for qualified persons with disabilities so they can participate equally in the City's various programs, services, and activities, including qualified sign language interpreters, documents in Braille, and other ways of making information and communications accessible to people who have speech, hearing, or vision impairments.

The City asks that adequate time be allowed for requests to be fulfilled.

Modifications to Policies and Procedures

The City of Pensacola will make all reasonable modifications to policies and programs to ensure that people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to enjoy all City of Pensacola programs, services, and activities.  

The ADA does not require the City to take any action that would fundamentally alter the nature of its programs or services, or impose an undue financial or administrative burden.

Grievance Procedure

If a person with a disability is unable to access program, service, or activity of the City of Pensacola, they are encouraged to contact the ADA Title II Coordinator via postal service at 222 W. Main Street, Pensacola, FL 32502, call (850) 436-5600, email ADACoordinator@cityofpensacola.com or submit a form via the Online Complaint Form. Through this interactive process, the ADA Title II Coordinator will work with the individual to discuss the issue and explore options for improving access to the program, service or activity.

The City of Pensacola is committed to make all City programs, services and activities accessible to everyone. Most complaints can be resolved quickly and result in improvements benefitting everyone in the community.
