Citizens Police Academy

In April 1997, the Pensacola Police Department launched a Citizens Police Academy in an effort to educate the public on the when, how, where, and why police do what they do.

Since that time, hundreds of people have participated in the academy, which is offered three times year and features various personnel explaining everything from writing a traffic citation to participating in a SWAT demonstration.

The academy meets from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesdays for 11 weeks. While there is no charge to attend, and there is a waiting list.
