Applying for Section 8

The City of Pensacola Housing Office takes applications for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program Waiting List on the second Wednesday of each month, excluding holidays. The telephone number to call is 850-858-0340 beginning at 7 a.m. Calls are accepted until a minimum number of 25 applications have been taken. Only one application per phone call will be taken. Walk-in applications are not accepted.

Please note: The Housing Office currently has a waiting list of approximately 2,000 applicants.

Elderly & Disabled Applicants
Reasonable accommodation is made for the elderly and/or disabled applicants to call on the second Thursday of each month, excluding holidays. The telephone number to call is 850-858-0340. Telephone calls are accepted beginning at 7a.m. and will continue until a minimum number of 25 applications have been taken. Elderly and/or disabled persons may call on a regular application day, as well. To be eligible to apply under these terms, the applicant must be either age 62 or older and must provide documentation of age and/or disability prior to placement on the waiting list, in addition to meeting other pre-application requirements.

Required Applicant Information

Applicants must be 18 years of age and will be asked to provide the full name of the family head of household, his/her social security number, mailing address, and telephone number. All household members will be screened by law enforcement agencies for drug and violent criminal history and screened for rental payment history with other subsidized housing agencies. Applicants will be mailed a preliminary application to complete for the determining eligibility for placement on the waiting list.
